The B’ham PIP for September had a big build up – it was our 6th Birthday and members were encouraged to bring a friend! And the day did not disappoint with a great turnout of members, speakers, sponsors and guests!
Hosted by Raj Sharma and special guest host Angie Nicholls from Bristol PIP, the day started with introductions from the very experienced attendees.
Ahmad Abdul Qayyum from Bluewater Accountants kicked off the presentations and gave us an overview of the U.K. tax system and how best to set up a property company, depending on our circumstances.
Pinder Dhaliwal of Falcon Insurance gave us an insurance update and again reminded us to ensure we are not under insured as reinstatement costs could be much higher than we think!
Lavanya Gamsani, long term PIP member, told her story of getting her 8 bed HMO project across the line. Faced with neighbour opposition and problems with contractors, her tenacity and perseverance – along with support from Sue Sims and other members – delivered a great end product.
As a member, we’d love for you to share your story – get in touch to make a member presentation!
Craig Beesley, represented our sponsors The Mortgage Consultancy this month and first of all explained that fixed rate mortgages are not dependent on base rates but swap rates. So as base rates rise, fixed rates are slowly decreasing as inflation is easing.
Is it getting better? Yes. Will it ever get back to where it was? Probably not. Is it the end of the world? No. Lots still happening and investors are doing deals.
The Property Geek Ian Walmsley was the final speaker of the day and we were treated to an overview of the potential new planning changes that will come into effect in the next few months – mainly relating to Permitted Development rights.
Watch this space – lots of opportunities across various planning classes will open up for investors and developers and Ian is at hand to help!
Happy 6th Birthday to us! As promised – and before the famous PIP Round Tables – there was cake!
We celebrated 6 years of the PIP community – started by Sue Sims and Adam Lawrence with a vision to create a property community of like minded, supportive people that want to see each other succeed with no hidden agenda.
And together we’ve achieved it. See you at the next one!
