The One About The Mortgage Mayhem! – Nov 1st 2022

Nov 8, 2022

By Jess Macaulay and Alicia Barlow

The one where we found clarity in the madness of mortgages, Mortgage Mayhem, 1st Nov 22!

November’s first Digital PIP meeting brought together nearly 300 property investors, brokers, and specialist lenders to discuss the state of the ever-changing lending market. The size of this digital event and the number of questions we hear weekly in our in-person meetings around lending clearly shows the level of uncertainty in the marketplace.

Our speakers shared incredibly candid opinions and insights on the lending and forecasted impacts to the property market. The specialist lenders provided detail on risk to support our attendees in understanding why certain projects, in the current climate, are associated with pricing in more risk or are presently less likely to be funded. They outlined the various challenges lenders had encountered over the past 18 months as well as what they expect is likely to be around the corner.

We are already seeing the pace of the property market slow, and the lending market will certainly become more competitive in the near term because of the reductions in transaction levels. Whether it’s keeping calm and carrying on, sweating your assets harder, or working with your Broker to keep up to date with the daily changes in lending; those that attended the event have gained specific guidance for their portfolios on how to navigate the ever-changing lending and property market.
