We had another cracking day at Bristol Partners in Property last Friday, for our November event, where we took a detailed look at differentiating and adding real value with design, from three very different perspectives.

First up we heard from Jenny Okoye of Azona Design Ltd, about adding value with structural design. Jenny spoke about the importance of sharing your vision with your architect from the very start of your project, and how to “speak the Architect’s language.” One of my key takeaways from Jenny’s presentation was how important it is to “spend the right amount and to know when to stop.”

Next up we heard from John Cox from Insurance desk, with and insurance update, followed by Ranjit Singh Chaggar of Property Investor News.

After a quick coffee break, it was time for our second presentation of the day, from Elaine Hollerhead. Elaine is an Occupational Therapist and Consultant Interior Designer and she spoke all about adding value through aesthetically inclusive design. Elaine expelled some common myths about the supported living sector and explained how it was possible to add value and future proof your investment property without compromising on design.

Next Craig Beesley of The Mortgage Consultancy gave us a much-needed mortgage update, including up to the minute rates and information across different lenders and investment types.

Our final presentation of the day came from Jules Copsey of Urban Co-Living Projects. Jules gave some excellent examples on how to differentiate and add value with interior design, by understanding your tenant type. With some illustrations of common errors, a brief look into the psychology of design and some motivational case studies from her own projects and some of her clients’, Jules left the whole room inspired!

Bristol’s next meeting is on 14th December, where we will be having a goal setting workshop, discussing the importance of accountability, and getting ourselves ready to hit the ground running in the new year. All this and Christmas lunch and seasonal sweaters too!
