PIP Bristol – The One About Development. October 2023

Nov 1, 2023

By Angie Nicholls,
Bristol’s Property Development day, on Friday 27th October, was magnificent and the atmosphere in the room was electric. There were too many learning points to mention and, those members who weren’t able to make the event, are urged not to miss this one – go grab it in the vault. We had some lovely visitors from PiP London and two new members  – lots of learning, a great vibe and many chuckles; this is a genuinely warm room with community members who really know, like and trust one another – and it shows!
First up we had a superb presentation from James Adams of Fairholm Estates. James spoke about his journey into property and development, with some detailed case studies and thoughts on what’s next for him. There were some great learning points in James’ presentation, delivered with clarity and flair. A first class talk from a very capable and switched on property developer and one whose fabulous business ethos, resonated well with the entire room!
Next up we heard from John Cox of Insurance Desk, who are one of our sponsors. We love hearing case studies from John because there isn’t much that The Insurance Desk haven’t seen or insured and there is always so much value in hearing about what’s on their desks at the moment. John also spoke about the dangers  of under insuring and some of the new products on the market.
After a quick coffee break, we heard from Craig Beesley of The Mortgage Consultancy, another one of our fabulous sponsors. Craig gave us an interest rate update, spoke about some great new products on the market and took questions from the floor. The level of experience here with these guys is phenomenal and it’s easy to see why they are so popular with our members!
And, bringing the morning of presentations to a fabulous finale, we heard from the one and only Ritchie Clapson. Ritchie’s presentations never disappoint – he took questions from the floor, spoke about development in light of upcoming changes to Permitted Development, how you could make significant gains in development by leveraging a team, and all whilst keeping the room entertained with his signature brand of sharp wit and entertaining anecdotes. We haven’t seen Ritchie at PiP Bristol in a while, and we have missed him, the whole room loved his presentation!
After a lovely buffet lunch (the Engineers House always look after us well) we all came back together for our signature round table sessions; the tables were full and animated and everyone enjoyed and got lots of value from them!
Next month, we get to do it all again on Friday 24th November with a deep dive into the PRS:-  What is the rental reform bill and what does it mean for landlords and investors and, future proofing your assets with accessible living!
